Garvosa Gen 2 Camera and RF Trap Controller
The Gen 2 Trap Controller is a major step forward from our original design, built around a fully wireless RF platform to give you more control, flexibility, and reliability in the field.
One of the key upgrades is the transition to a completely RF-based system. This allows your camera not only to control trap gates, but also to wirelessly trigger feeders—either inside the trap or at remote feed locations across your ranch. This added capability gives you a powerful tool to actively manage animal movement and behavior in real time.
On our own ranch, every trap is now equipped with two camera systems—one dedicated to the drop gates, and a second wirelessly connected to a feeder. This setup allows us to feed on demand, focusing feed activity on days when our crew is available for loadouts. It also gives us the ability to strategically control the trap—whether that means drawing animals in or pushing them out.
We’ve even used the feed-on-demand feature to clear traps when needed. If there are too many animals or the wrong mix of species, triggering the feeder startles the animals and encourages them to exit. From there, we can monitor the trap and selectively drop the gate when the desired animals are in position.
Durability and reliability were also key focuses in the Gen 2 design. We’ve added a watertight strain relief connection at the camera to prevent water intrusion and eliminate the risk of cables being pulled loose. Additionally, we’ve upgraded from traditional extension cord-style connectors to a more secure and weather-resistant 2-pin SAE connection. For those with existing setups, adapter cables are available to convert from SAE to standard extension-style plugs.
Every Gen 2 system includes an RF remote, rated for up to 300 feet (and tested well beyond), giving you another layer of control when working close to the trap. For extended range applications, we also offer an optional long-range remote capable of operating up to 1,250 feet away.
We’ve also relocated the solar panel to the aluminum mounting bracket, making the entire unit even more compact and streamlined—without sacrificing performance.
Unlike many systems on the market, we do not charge any monthly service fees. Each unit includes an EIOT SIM card that can be easily activated through a mobile app and paid directly to EIOT. The included SIM is a multi-carrier card that works across T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon networks. Upon initial power-up at a new location, the system automatically scans all available carriers, selects the strongest signal, and connects to the most reliable network in that area.
Service plans typically average around $12 per month when billed annually. While lower-cost and lower-data plans are available, we recommend the 12-month, 24GB plan for the best performance and reliability in the field.
The result is a more rugged, more versatile, and more capable trap controller system designed for real-world ranch conditions.
